Our "getaway"

Cody and I got married on Saturday, Oct. 3. I was was back in class (in Lubbock while he stayed in Seymour) on Tuesday and taking another test by Wednesday. This was the start of our "weekend marriage". To be honest, it didn't really feel like we got married. We didn't go on a honeymoon and we still live about 160 miles apart.

The plan was to go on a honeymoon sometime over my Christmas break from school (I get a full month off). We had saved all the money we got at the wedding and I was looking into going somewhere AMAZING and different. We were just about ready to book a trip to Belize where we stay in individual huts within the jungle (mosquito nets and all) and then I found out I was pregnant.

The pregnancy news really shouldn't have been such a suprise since we were trying... but somehow I was still shocked that it actually happened and SO SOON. Needless to say, we no longer felt comfortable visiting Belize or any other country while I was pregnant. I actually ended up being so sick in my first trimester that I didn't want to fly anywhere and spend so much money for me to lay in bed sick the whole time.

So what did we do?? Well friends, we took a two hour drive to Grapevine, TX. It was great to get away with Cody and be somewhere different for a few days, but it definately wasn't our most exciting trip...

We stayed at the Gaylord Texan and it was a beautiful place. I LOVED all the Christmas decorations. There were lights, trains, trees, etc EVERYWHERE. We also went to see ICE while we were there. The theme is How the Grinch Stole Christmas and it's all made out of ice. They give you these big parkas since the room in 9 degrees and you just walk around and check it all out! It was a good time but it only took us about 30 minutes (if that long) to walk through it. Its another one of those things we'll enjoy even more once the little one gets here. :)

The most amazing part was the nativity scene. It was all in crystal clear ice and had amazing detail. There was even a glowing angel. This is one of the only pictures that turned out and it just doesn't do it justice.
